Erotic-fiction and bestselling author Zane will host a “Writing and Publishing Boot Camp” on Saturday, June 29, in the Oxon Hill Library Auditorium, located at 6200 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, Md 20745. The boot camp, presented by Enrizon World Wide, Inc., a Maryland-based company that specializes in events and production, will last from 11am to 4pm.
Born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area, Zane began writing short stories online in the mid-90s. In an interview with blogger Madam Noire, Zane said that it wasn’t until 1997, after beginning to realize there was a real market for her work, that she self-published her first three books, including Sex Chronicles. She would go on to sign with Simon and Schuster in 2001, agreeing to publish 15 books for them by 2005.
Her online following followed her to print an more than thirty of Zane’s titles have been New York Times’ Bestsellers, including Addicted, The Heat Seekers, and Afterburn. Over the years, Zane has donned many hats. According to her bio, she is the creator of Strebor Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, as well as a screenwriter and executive producer. Now, after more than a decade of writing and publishing experience, Zane is ready to host her own publishing boot camp.
“Not a day goes by that I do not receive emails from aspiring writers asking for advice,” Zane wrote in an email. “[The boot camp] is a streamlined way to get the information out and, hopefully, make the writing process run more smoothly for them.”
According to Zane, attendees of the workshop will gain “a complete, comprehensive breakdown of the writing and publishing process, from the rooter to the tooter.” The five-hour workshop will provide opportunities to learn tips for every aspect of the trade, from creating unforgettable characters and outlining the perfect storyline to approaching literary agents and understanding today’s publishing climate. The boot camp will wrap-up with a question and answer session and conclude with a book signing.
If the workshop is beneficial to attendees, Zane may host it in other major cities. But her response to questions regarding the bootcamp’s future may leave leave fans, writers, and aspiring writers in suspense:
